I recently went to visit Coleg Sir Gar University of Wales Trinity st David’s small photographic exhibition that the 2nd year students had put together themselves. I really enjoyed looking at the different variety within the work and asking questions about their different projects. I would love to put together a small exhibition myself to get the general public to be able to see my work and I will talk to my classmates to see if wee could get something organised.

Graciela Iturbide’s work stood out to me massively, she is a great artist to use as research within my personal work and I was extremely pleased to come across it when looking in the Tate Modern Gallery.
Graciela Iturbide is widely acknowledged as one of the most important photographers working in Mexico today.

Michael Baldwin – Untitled Painting – 1965
Instead of looking at a painting viewers are confronted by themselves which makes this piece interesting.

On our trip to London to look at art galleries.
I had a great time in London and felt it was really beneficial, it was a great way to mix socially with my peers and for us to bond as a group.

This is the photo that got shortlisted.
I took this photo of the River Tawe. Swansea is a beautiful place to live, surrounded by rolling green hills on one side and the beach on the other. As part of a college project I took a walk by the river to try and capture the natural beauty of the area whilst also looking at pattern and reflection. I looked into the river to see the reflection of the riverbank and saw the trolleys instead. I was shocked and saddened. My immediate reaction was to feel sorry for the trolleys, it seemed as if I was looking at a trolley graveyard.
Littering and its effect on our environment is something I’m concerned about. Pollution and global warming are common topics of conversation everywhere but most people look at the bigger picture without seeing what is right under their noses. It was only by chance that I looked into the murky water in front of me and was able to take this emotive image.

I entered a competition through facebook with Canon, I had to enter a black and white image and I was one of ten to get shortlisted to win a new Canon EOS 100D White camera. I was very pleased with this achievement but gutted I didn’t win.

My teacher Holly shows us that by moving the projector we can achieve something completely different. Just by laying on the floor and looking up we can feel like we’re in a different world.

I think motion within in the peices would have helped a lot of the installations, not just having the movement within in the video. Scale was another thing that I felt was a problem as a lot of people didn’t have time, space or money to create installations to their full potential.

I really enjoyed looked at other peoples installations in my class, I liked that you could walk through them and be a part of them.
